Coming to terms with who you really are takes a long time and is something that people deal with everyday. Coming out to family and friends is a significant step in lives of gay men and lesbian women. The decision holds power and grants dignity to live your life as you see fit without feeling discarded. The decision to accept your life as a gay person creates opportunities to explore your identity as a separate individual in a world where inequality flourishes. Second class citizenship, discrimination, hatred and abuse are everyday realities for gay Americans. This struggle to overcome and persist despite these difficulties while building a fulfilling life and establishing enduring traditions is as consequential and valid for gay individuals as it is for any perceived "other" who has suffered persecution by outdated societal norms.
We can't choose the family into which we're born. Be it functional or dysfunctional, happy or tragic, as children we're stuck with what we get. Part of becoming an adult is deciding what role our parents and siblings are going to play in the rest of our lives. Do we recognize their strengths and forgive their mistakes, or hold them to blame? Do we welcome them as adults, or shut the door forever?
Once out on our own, we form second families: friends, roommates and significant others. Although self-selected, these families are just as chaotic and difficult to manage. Without blood to bind us, the links can be all too easily cut. Each argument has the potential to be the one that tears the group apart.
Love has certain blinders that shield you from hurt and truth, but being in love is universal. That desire to find someone, or to keep someone is so fundamental that people make decisions that aren't the best for them or can cause them to reevaluate their ideals. When we grow up and decide what career we want to pursue we sometimes have a singular focus and tunnel vision to realize those dreams. What happens when our hearts and our goals are at odds with each other? Whose dream and heart do we break? Is there ever an easy choice?

(New York, NY) Orchard Winfield Productions’ first endeavor is a provocative new media series that tackles the story of having it all in the most iconic, demanding and cutthroat city in the world. People you Know is a new gay sudser that will leave its viewers gathering by the water cooler discussing the dramedy and wanting more. PyK follows the lives of eight urbanites on a non-stop emotional roller coaster as they face the dilemma of having their dreams or ambitions drown out their chances for love or happiness. Every decision these friends make to get ahead has a ripple effect that has them seeking support from the family they’ve created. During the first season, these friends get pushed to the limit and run the risk of severing their inner circle. OW Productions will begin filming the 13-episode season on location in New York City in June with the series launch in fall. A Kickstarter campaign for the new episodes is now live.

With its universal themes and highly-relatable characters, People You Know holds a mirror up to our own lives as its shows us a group of friends that are every bit like you and your friends. Conceptually this drama will be grounded in reality offering a glimpse into the modern gay life style, baring witness to the trial and turmoil of each of the characters. Episode one is complete, and the team is working to begin episode two, which concludes the cliffhanger ending of the pilot. We are keeping the pilot under wraps until the launch.

Baltimore Russell is a native Texan who has been seen on the New York stage in the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival and had a two-year run in Judy and Me. He has worked on all the NY-based soaps and can be seen in Sinister and Wall Street 2.
